This week on the blog we decided to address some of your burning questions and concerns about building the rock solid self belief you need for real business success.
We hear a lot about self belief and how much this plays a part in your ability to succeed with money, business and investing – particularly for women. Our Self Worth Expert, Debbie Spellman, joined me on the blog this week to give us some quick tips on how to build rock solid self belief for business success.
This weeks question came from Ruth:
I have been self-employed for a number of years but always drift back to being employed or self employed but with only one or two clients which in itself is like being employed. The income stability draws me and I guess the root of it all, I don’t value myself enough to think that I can make it.
What do I do?
Spend some time journaling with a notepad and get very clear on what you believe to be true around money and around your own value.
Try and reflect on the money situation your family was in when you were about 6 years old and what your parents believed was true about money and making money. Our family’s belief system is the strongest one we are exposed to because, as humans, we all have this sense of belonging and we don’t want to be different from our family. This is how we are molded and these beliefs then form the basis of how we think and act as adults.
Get very clear on what beliefs you have around your own self-worth and capabilities.
Reflect on your beliefs as an individual. Reflect on the things that you have accomplished and the mistakes that you have made in the past. Look into your past employments and jobs and reflect on the times you tried your very best to achieve your goals. By doing this, you will realise the TRUTH you believe in. Your own belief system is driving your thoughts, actions and behavior and so you will understand what exactly is going on and be able to change it.
Start creating new evidence for yourself of success.
It seems Ruth has created some evidence in the past that says I can’t achieve, I can’t run my own business, I dont value myself so she needs to focus on creating some new evidence that refutes these ingrained beliefs.
Step 1: Take 100% responsibility about how you have been showing up in the past 5 or so years – what are your habits, what are your behaviors, what is your mindset? Take responsibility for the way that you’ve been operating in your business. Are you doing everything you can every single day to push through, create wealth, get new clients, put yourself out there? Are you being resourceful or are you being unresourceful?
Step 2: Get control of your mindset. Create a crystal clear vision about where you want to go with your business. What does it look like? What is the end result? Then create some action steps or milestones that’s going to get you there.
If you want to change your future, you need to start changing your actions, behaviour and mindset.
